I had to share my salad with you tonight...

Light, fluffy and crunchy... It's the perfect summer spinach salad treat:



About 16 ounces of baby spinach
1 carrot, shaved with peeler
1/2 of a cucumber
1 avocado
1 granny smith apple
1 1/2 cups of chopped walnuts
A generous squeeze of lemon
Balsalmic vinagrette dressing

Delicious!!

"Branding": Thoughts

"Branding" Used primarily to identify ownership for slaves and livestock; Also used to deter theft, and used against slaves who tried to run. This practice can be traced back to as far back as the Egyptians in 3000 BC.
Here is an example of a branding iron c. 1550 BC:



It is interesting to me that the origin of the modern day advertising term "branding" is this crazy ritual of searing flesh with a unique signature burn. And it is an interesting parallel when you think of the main component of it being involuntary for the bearer of the brand. Suddenly, I am thinking about:

WOW! Right after I saw the zooey cotton ad, I see Debbie Gibson, my childhood pop hero, doing an ad for Burger King. BK and that creepy/funny plastic king is a funny campaign (by ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky) And the best part: Its a double ad!! BK + A1 steaksauce! I love it when that happens!

TONIGHT! A friend from my days living in Kansas City, the amazing and talented Ari Fish will be a tv star! She is going to be on Project Runway and it premiers tonight!!

Meanwhile Kanye posted the new video for "RunThisTown" feat. Jay Z and Rihanna on his blog... and I have been thinking about this for a long time, but I REALLY REALLY think Ari and Rihanna need to hook up, pronto.
